A typical” Billiard Board Table” garden is transformed into useful and attractive family space by the employment of a diagonal pattern design. This creates a sense of movement around a central grass area and provides two seating areas to capture the sun as it moves on its daily cycle. The largest, opposite an open plan family room, benefits from the sun from morning to late afternoon while the smaller receives sun late evening.

3D interest is provided by two raised planters and steps made from wood sleepers. A child friendly water feature is constructed on a face of the larger planter that may be appreciated from the family room day and night. Further 3D interest is made by the use of mature plants in key positions.
