A small, typical estate plot set on a 1 in 6 slope, perpendicular to the house is converted into a water garden haven by the deployment of a design composed of interlocking and overlapping abstract rectangles made from wood sleepers. The design, centered around a bold water feature, produces a sense of movement and enables the owner to access all parts of the garden, including a sunny spot to the N.W. via steps where the rectangular shapes overlap. In the summer the rear garden door may be left open so the waterfall, lit up by underwater lights, may be seen from the living room on the other side of the house.
